H.E. Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Alsabah, Minister of Foreign Affaires of the State of Kuwait and the Delegation accompanied him visited Azerbaijan to attend he Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordinating Bureau entitled “NAM: United and steadfast in confronting emerging challenges”.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev maid an opening speech. The NAM Azerbaijani chairmanship vigorously protected justice and international law and the legitimate interests of Member States in line with the “Bandung principles, said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
H.E. Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Alsabah, Minister of Foreign Affaires of the State of Kuwait made a speech also. He said that Kuwait praises Azerbaijan's role in the Non-Aligned Movement and the promotion of the organization's leadership in the world. The Minister also thanked Azerbaijan for the excellent organization of the event.
"Today we must intensify our efforts to achieve peace and stability to prevent global challenges," he said.
Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also called for international condemnation of the act of burning the Koran in Stockholm: "Concrete measures must be taken on this to ensure respect for all religions”. "Such steps should be condemned at the international level; decisive steps should be taken against it. We do not want this step to go unpunished," he said.
In the frame of NAM’s Ministerial Meeting the Minister held bilateral meetings with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Turkey, Iran, Belarus and Venezuela.
