26.05.2023 HE Mr. Ambassador Abdullah Mohamed Almowed participated in the presentation ceremony of the 74th International Astronautical Congress and the exhibition "10 years in orbit" jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
An information event on the 74th International Astronautical Congress and an exhibition dedicated to "Azersky" satellite imagery was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, jointly organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan ("Azerkosmos").
 
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Farid Ahmadov, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan, including media representatives.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov conveyed his congratulations, saying that the information event coincided with May 28 - Independence Day. The deputy minister noted that despite the fact that Azerbaijan is a relatively new member of the space community, as a result of achievements in this field and successful satellite projects, it has won the right to host the 74th International Astronautical Congress. 50 years after the International Astronautical Congress held in Baku for the first time in 1973, during the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, it was brought to attention that Azerbaijan is hosting this prestigious event again.
Speaking later, Deputy Minister Farid Ahmadov emphasized that the main focus of the 74th International Astronautical Congress, which will bring together experts and leaders of the international space community, is the youth. Deputy Minister Farid Ahmadov said that it is important to attract more young specialists and students to the work of the Congress, as well as to the space industry and science.
Dunay Badirkhanov, Deputy Chairman of "Azerkosmos" who gave a presentation on the 74th International Astronautical Congress at the event, informed the event participants in detail about the program of the Congress covering the dates of October 2-6. In general, it was noted that the 74th International Astronautical Congress, which will include 6,000 guests, including experts and leaders of the international space community, will create opportunities for cooperation at the regional and international level.
Later, the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to "Azersky" satellite images.
The purpose of this meeting, is to convey the importance of the International Astronautical Congress for our region, including the opportunities for the exchange of experience of the countries participating in the space field.
 
At the event, it was emphasized that the Baku Congress will be a broad platform for the world countries to establish space relations.
It should be noted that 3,532 scientific articles, which can have a positive impact on space and the benefit of mankind, have been registered for the Baku Congress by scientists and researchers working in the field of space. With this indicator, the Baku Congress surpassed all congresses held so far together with the Paris (2022), Washington (2019) and Bremen (2018) congresses. Also, the number of scientific articles presented from Azerbaijan was a record volume with 214 scientific articles.
