H.E. Mr. Saud Abdulaziz Alroomi, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Baku attended the presentation ceremony of Paleography requirements that the International Islamic Charitable Organization has donated to Azerbaijan Society for Disablement of Eyesight.

 

The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Azerbaijan, in cooperation with Azerbaijan Society for Disablement of Eyesight, organized a presentation ceremony of a sophisticated blind printing press donated by the International Islamic Charitable Organization to Azerbaijan Society for Disablement of Eyesight. His Excellency Ambassador Saud Abdulaziz Al-Roomi participated at the ceremony and accompanied by Mr. Faisal Jazza Al-Mutairi First Secretary and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy and Mr Bader Naser Aladwani First Secretary and Consul of the Embassy. The celebration was attended by members of Azerbaijan Society for Disablement of Eyesight and a number of well-known social and media figures in Azerbaijan.

H.E. Al-Roomi delivered a speech in which he pointed out that the price of the advanced equipments for printing press with Braille way is 220 thousand dollars, pointing out that this step reflects Kuwait's interest in all segments of society, especially those with special needs. “In addition, this work is an important task in the charitable work of Kuwait towards the blind in Azerbaijan” he said.

Mr. Samyar Abdullayev, head of Azerbaijan Society for Disablement of Eyesight noted that the blind printing press has no counterpart in the Commonwealth of Independent States and it enables workers, including the blind, to print and publish literary, cultural and religious books and publications and print copies of the Holy Quran with “Braille” way of publishing. He stressed that the employees of the printing press will undergo a training program so that the blind can manage the printing press, sell the publications and create a source of funding and livelihood to improve their living conditions.
